CONTINUING EDUCATION EVENTS

WNL: Within Normal Limits

The Monterey Bay Dental Hygienists’ Association is proud to collaborate with the Monterey Bay Dental Society for a powerful continuing education event focused on one of the most critical responsibilities we hold as oral health professionals: the ability to recognize abnormalities and potentially save lives through early detection.

This course will take attendees through an impactful visual and clinical journey exploring oral and oropharyngeal cancer, emphasizing the importance of thorough screenings, subtle symptom recognition, and timely intervention. Through survivor stories, clinical insight, and evidence-based best practices, participants will gain valuable knowledge that can be immediately translated into patient care.

Beyond the educational value, this collaboration represents something even greater — strengthening the connection between dentists, hygienists, specialists, educators, and the entire Monterey Bay dental community. By learning together and supporting one another professionally, we continue building a more unified, collaborative, and patient-centered community for the future of dentistry in our region.

Learning Outcomes Include:
• Understanding the current incidence and five-year survival rates of oral and oropharyngeal cancers
• Reviewing critical components of extraoral and intraoral cancer screening examinations
• Recognizing subtle and potentially life-saving signs and symptoms that are often overlooked
• Integrating best practices for earlier detection and management of abnormalities
• Evaluating current screening protocols to strengthen patient outcomes and standards of care

This is more than a CE course — it is an opportunity to come together as a dental community, strengthen interdisciplinary relationships, and reaffirm our shared commitment to improving and saving lives through prevention and early diagnosis.
